Overseas Visitors

Those who visit the UK from overseas are eligible for free NHS primary medical care only. Therefore anybody may register and consult with a GP WITHOUT charge.

If a visitor is referred by a GP for secondary services ie hospital or other community services, eligibility for free care will be assessed by the receiving organisation.

A patient’s nationality is not relevant in giving people entitlement to register as NHS patients for primary medical care services.

For further information for overseas visitors please see here.
